Gospel of Matthew
Jesus used parables to preach and explain the Kingdom of God
1 Letter of Peter 5
Clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for: God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble. So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.
...The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.
Humility is the foundation of love. It is the ground on which love grows and blossoms. If the event of Jesus in history is God's gift of love to a fallen humanity, then its restoration happens when the gift is received and embraced with the humble arms reaching out to God, through grace of the Cross of Jesus.
Gospel of John 6
When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?” He said this to test him, because he himself knew what he was going to do. Philip answered him, “Two hundred days’ wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little.” One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?” Jesus said, “Have the people recline.” Now there was a great deal of grass in that place. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number. Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted.
All what they had was just very little, however, it was enough for Jesus. If we, in our personal lives, only have the courage to give to Jesus and entrust in Him everything we have, He will will be able to feed us, all our lives, with so many miracles and wonders, just like He did for the crowd following Him.
He "took it," He "blessed it" and He "gave to distribute it," just like He always does, when we celebrate the Eucharist. Such daily celebration, offered for us in every church, is the real food to satisfy our spiritual hunger.
